The kittens are just over 1 month old now and so we thought it about time to get a few ‘official’ photos of them. It certainly was fun trying to get them to sit and pose nicely for the camera, the girls both obliged after a little encouragement, however Bo decided to do things his way still! ;) It’s a little like that at meal times too, the girls need a little encouragement and then they both sit nicely and eat their meat, however Bo just nose-dives into it as soon as it arrives, making rather sweet little piggy noises as he devours everything in sight... In addition to getting plenty of dinners under their belts, they have also started to work out what kitty litter is fore and to use it! :) Oh and now every time we pass the kitten room or go for a ‘cuddle’ visit they run to great us and vi for who will be first to get picked up and fussed, making us feel very popular indeed! :)

The kittens have turned 5 weeks old today and are all now well over 500g’s so more than 5 times their birth weight and still gaining each and every day. They are now starting to really play a lot with toys as well as each other and occasionally trying to bring their mother, Isis, or big sister, Setra, into the fun they are having. Hours are spent running round with their tails in the air as if they were jet propelled, turning this way and that until they run out of energy and collapse in a big kitten pile in the middle of the rug! :) We are also seeing the beginning of their more adult coat, so they’re looking pretty fluffy right now as their short baby furs keep the emerging slightly longer adult fur from laying down properly, giving them sort of an aura. It doesn’t last long so I will try and photograph it later when their morning madness calms down into their early afternoon nap time! :)

The kittens have been having a wonderful afternoon nap, following hours of playing with their big half-sister, Setra. This gave me a good opportunity to get the camera out and get another photo or two before they started running around again! ;)

Yesterday evening the kittens had a lovely treat in the form of their first pieces of cooked chicken, until now they have just had pâté style meat, but with their growing teeth and their corresponding desire to chew things they soon got the hang of chewing pieces of chicken. MeMe took to it straight off, followed by Bo, however once Fflur got the hang of things she not only ate all her chicken, but boldly went up to her big sister, Setra, and stole an adult size lump from her! We’ve always known that Fflur was very sure of herself, but fell about laughing at Setra’s puzzled reaction to her cheeky little sister devouring what was have to been her treat. Anyway Setra got an extra piece for being so good to her greedy little sister, so in the end she did better out of the deal... ;) Once they had all run off a little of their excess energy they all then had a cuddle with us while we watched a little TV with the adult cats.
Following the success with the chicken we gave the kittens some chunky style food for breakfast, well smashed up with the fork and served out of their first grown up kitten bowl and not only did they handle eating out of the bowl well, but polished off the little chunks of turkey in jelly in no time. No wonder they are all over 600g’s now! :)

Yesterday the kittens turned 6 weeks old, they certainly have grown a lot and are most eager to get to the dinner bowl first. However they seem to take that pleasure in turn, with the other 2 joining in the feast in no time. They now have a full 4 meal a day habit that keeps me on my toes from early morning to late into the evening... Isis is now letting them suckle only when she wants, so has taken to hiding in their play tunnel when they bug her between meals! ;)

Our trio turn 7 weeks old tomorrow and have been spending the past week honing their hunting skills, with many games, including the one where they kill any adult cats tail that’s daft enough to flicker it even once while they’re awake and in the mood! In addition to this they have commandeered their Uncle Ramses’ catnip squirrel and have been doing an impressive job of killing it at good few times each day, being a good boy Ramses just watches all this patiently, doing his level best not to flicker his tail while doing so! ;) The kittens are all now about or just over 800g’s in weight and growing all the time, they adore our attention and vi for it at every chance making sure they get at least their fair share of cuddles! :) There favourite nap spot is most certainly their little sofa, when they’re not playing they tend to line up there, kind of like sardines in a tin, top to tail, for a good snooze! :)

Tomorrow the kittens turn 8 weeks old, nearly ready for their first visit to the vets for their initial shots. In the meantime they have been having a lovely time learning how to climb the big wicker cat tree we having in their room. They are all now very proficient in climbing it all the way to the top and love hanging out on it’s various branches and perches, however there has been mixed success in getting back down again, but they are working on it - saving me from having to rescue them every few hours! ;) New photos will be added this week, although urgent family matters are keeping me quite busy at present - making me grateful to have the kittens here as they’re very therapeutic when life is a little stressful! :)

The kittens are nearly 9 weeks old now and as such I’ve just filled their registration papers with the GCCF and booked them in for their shots later this week at the vets. They have been having a lovely time this past week as they’ve had my son to play with as well as myself and the other cats during the day. They so love being had-fed chicken as a treat too, they get so excited about chicken time that they just about swarm the person or persons handing out the good stuff! ;)

Today the kittens have had lots of new and exciting experiences, starting with their first car ride. They all travelled together in our kitten carrier, and were so relaxed that they didn’t once meow or complain! Following that I took them to the vets for a full check-up and their initial shots, he was extremely pleased with not only how well the behaved, but also with how fit and healthy they all are. It’s great to have a such a calm and through vet to check them all over though, as it’s as important for the kittens to learn to trust vets as it is for a vet to see that they are all in tip top condition! If a vet won’t take the time to make your animal comfortable and confident with them, it’s time to look for a new vet!

The kittens turn 10 weeks old tomorrow and are nearing the end of their time with us here, as such we are doing our best to get them used to being careful around the house - especially in the kitchen. So many of their evening meals are now shared downstairs with the rest of the Abys. They love having the run of the house for a few hours each day and access into the cat run if the weather is warm and dry. We’ve moved them onto Bozita cat meat, which is what all our cats eat here and found that they all adore it in all it’s formats and flavours so far. So as soon as they know there’s a bowl full down they there in a flash making sure the adults don’t hog it all! ;) See for yourself in their latest photos! :)

This morning saw all three of the kittens snuggled up in the heated bed with their big half-sister, Setra, so new photos have been taken of this delightful sight! Other than that Fflur has learnt how to jump high enough to get out of the kitten room with ease, so is busy exploring the rest of house between bouts of ‘tag’ with Isis and Setra. However Bo and MeMe are being very good and staying in their room, playing together, climbing their tree and competing for who gets the best sunny patch to lay in. Although they’ll all be out for a run around in a bit, plus dinner with the grown-ups in the kitchen. At this age they have boundless energy, so it takes quite a lot of running around and playing to help then burn it off and sleep well at night! ;)

The kittens have had their second visit to the vets today and were perfect little angels in the car on the way there and back, as well as remaining on their best behaviour for the vet. They have all been microchipped now, a simple and straight forward way of ensuring that they can be identified if needed. They’ve also had their second vaccinations, so will be ready to leave us and go to their new families in just a week’s time. This is a bitter sweet time for us here, as we love them all and will miss them, however it’s such a joy to see them bring love to others that it’s all worth it! :)

Tomorrow the kittens turn 13 weeks old and as such are old enough to leave us and go tot their ‘forever families’. They are busy running round the house this morning and playing with the big cats, then once they’ve run out of energy they either cuddle up together for a nap or curl up with their mother, Isis, or big sister, Setra, for a rest, just as MeMe is doing in the photo I took of her and Setra taking over my chair! ;)
