If your cat goes missing and it’s lucky enough to have a microchip, whoever finds it will be able to get it’s unique chip number when they scan it; this will indicate that it’s a Petlog Tracer chip if you’ve had your kitten chipped by our vet. The microchip company will be contacted to see who owns that cat with that chip number and from there they will be able to contact you regarding your missing cat. So even if you’re planning to keep your cat as we do an indoor cat, do take the time to get it microchipped because you never know when or where it could be let out by accident.
It’s amazing that a little microchip about the size of a grain of rice can give so much peace of mind!
We are always happy and willing to get our kittens microchipped before they leave us so that their first visit to your own vet will be a non-invasive one and hopefully lead to a long and happy relationship between them and you. Though since people have differing views on this subject we leave it entirely up to you as to when, where and even if they get microchipped - even if we have found this and other similar forms of permanent identification invaluable in the past.
